AMLA Announces First Conference on AML/CFT in Frankfurt

The European Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AMLA) will hold its first conference on 9 June 2026 at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt. The event will gather senior supervisors, FIUs, regulators, and private sector leaders to discuss financial intelligence, supervision, and technology in AML/CFT.

EBA Publishes Updated Taxonomy for AMLA 2027 Risk Assessment Data Collection

The European Banking Authority (EBA) has released version 4.3 of its reporting framework, including an updated data model and taxonomy to support AMLA's 2027 risk assessment of entities eligible for direct supervision. This version is for preparatory purposes only and must not be used for submissions. A further release (v4.4) is expected in September 2026, adding new data points and improving handling of unavailable information.

AMLA consults on harmonised risk assessments for non-financial sector

The European Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) has launched a public consultation on draft regulatory technical standards for a harmonised methodology to assess money laundering and terrorist financing risks in the non-financial sector. The proposed rules aim to ensure consistent risk assessment across Member States for businesses such as legal practices, estate agencies, and gambling operators, with tailored data points and reduced reporting burdens for smaller entities. The consultation is open until 10 September 2026, with a public hearing on the same day, and the methodology is expected to apply from 31 December 2028.
